Peppers originally come from South America, but nowadays Hungary is the "pepper superpower", where they focus on growing various types of peppers.
🩺 Effects on the Human Body
Peppers contain large amounts of vitamin C, which significantly strengthens the immune system – ideal as prevention against colds.
Other beneficial substances in peppers:
- Capsaicin – supports digestion
- Beta-carotene – slows down aging and protects against UV radiation
🌱 How to Grow Peppers
Pre-cultivation
- Soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours – this will support germination.
- Sowing in a planter or pot in January to February.
- Ideal growing temperature: 23–25 °C.
- Use Previcur – protects against damping-off of seedlings.
Pricking Out (Transplanting)
- Seedlings with true leaves should be pricked out into a planter at a distance of 5–6 cm.
- When they reach approximately 40 cm, they are ready for outdoor transplanting.
Transplanting and Conditions
- In May (watch out for ground frost!) harden off the plants for a few days in sun and wind.
- Plant in rows spaced 45 cm apart, with the root ball intact.
Watering
- Water regularly, ideally with settled lukewarm water.
Mycorrhizal Fungi
Don't forget to add mycorrhizal fungi – they ensure better rooting and healthy growth.
