Native to Congo, Ethiopia and south to South Africa. Perennial herb growing in small clumps. It has dark green leaves and yellow flowers. The species is relatively fast-growing and easily forms large clusters. In plantings it finds its place not only as a striking element, but also as continuous ground cover. Plants are very attractive even outside the flowering period. It reaches a height of up to 70 cm.

Leaf sap can be used on chapped lips. Suitable for cut flowers in a vase. Perfect for country gardens.

How to grow Bulbine

• Requires a sunny location and moderate watering. Very tolerant of drought and frost. For successful overwintering, good drainage is important to prevent rotting in winter moisture. Covering with conifer branches is beneficial, but not essential.

• Sow seeds in spring in well-draining substrate. Germination occurs at room temperature.

• Requires humus-rich soil.

• In early spring, lightly work complete fertilizer into the bed at the dosage indicated on its package.

• The plant does not suffer from pests or diseases.
