Has your garden barely fallen asleep in autumn and you already miss it? Create at least a small herb garden at home on your windowsill for the winter. Before the first frosts, you can dig up chives, parsley, rosemary, lemon balm or chervil from your bed.
Even beginners can grow herbs on a windowsill. All you need is a proper planter or pot, drainage for the bottom, and soil.
Place the container with the herb on a sunny window.
Water them only occasionally with lukewarm water, and from time to time spray or shower them to wash off the dust that likes to settle on indoor plants and suffocates them.
Herbs don't require high temperatures. They'll do well in a room with around 20 degrees Celsius, and at night they can handle temperatures 5 degrees cooler.
You don't need to fertilize herbs. If you provide them with quality soil, the nutrients should last until spring, when you'll repot them and move them outside again.
Fresh herbs are a rich source of vitamins! And they're not just perfect for winter cooking... They'll bring you joy throughout the entire winter.
