Black Cumin

Nigella damascena

Originates from the Mediterranean and belongs to annual plants. It's a beautiful bedding annual, ornamental during flowering and especially when fruiting, but primarily suitable for cutting and drying. Its dried stems with seed pods last for a very long time. It grows to a height of 30 - 50cm. The flowers can have several colors: white, pink, blue and purple. It blooms from July to August.

How to grow Love-in-a-Mist

• It thrives in both full sun and partial shade. It can survive even in our conditions - as a perennial. It doesn't tolerate moisture and rainy weather. Removing spent flowers will prolong blooming.

• Sow seeds in March and April. Directly in the bed in small batches, at a distance of 20cm. Seeds germinate after 14 - 20 days.

• It prefers drier, permeable soils containing a higher percentage of sand.

• Apply fertilizer every 14 days. It's advisable to use fertilizer for flowering plants.

• The plant doesn't suffer from pests or diseases.
