Balcony Annuals - Mix

This unique mix of the most popular balcony annuals will satisfy even the most demanding gardeners! The package contains, for example, marigolds, busy lizzies, ornamental tobacco, coleus, and lobelia. These balcony annuals are suitable for growing in balcony boxes and containers. You can also plant them in flower beds.

How to Grow Balcony Annuals

  • The plants require a bright, sunny location. They also tolerate partial shade. Water regularly, ideally early in the morning or later in the evening. During the growing season, it is necessary to remove weeds, loosen the soil, and continuously deadhead spent flowers - this ensures abundant flowering throughout the summer.

  • Sow seeds from March to May in special substrate designed for sowing and propagation. Keep the substrate at room temperature. Maintain seedlings slightly moist at all times, never waterlogged. Seeds and young plants need plenty of light. Transplant established seedlings to their final location at the end of May.

  • The plants are not demanding regarding soil. They thrive in any well-drained garden soil. When preparing the bed, it is good to mix slow-release fertilizer into the substrate, or we can enrich the soil with sifted compost before planting.

  • Apply fertilizer in liquid form once a week or every two weeks with a complete NPK fertilizer or fertilizer designed for balcony plants.

  • The most common problem is so-called damping-off of seedlings. This fungal disease, causing root collar rot, is present in the soil. We can prevent problems by using quality, disinfected, well-drained substrate and proper plant care.

Avoid watering the leaves to prevent powdery mildew. Plants are sometimes attacked by aphids. If necessary, treat plants with special insecticides and fungicides.
