They require a sunny (bright) location, good watering and loose soil. Well-fertilized humus-rich soil that is airy and sufficiently moist is suitable. When watering seedlings, do not water the leaves, this will reduce the occurrence of diseases and mildew.
Sow seeds in February in loose soil - therefore add perlite or vermiculite, which ensures aeration. Peat Jiffy pellets are ideal. During germination, a temperature of 20 - 25 °C must be maintained. Do not press seeds into the substrate. Water by misting. Seedlings must be placed in a bright location.
Special horticultural substrate for tomatoes and peppers is suitable. Chilli peppers thrive in soil where the pH level is around 6.
While the plant is growing, use growth fertilizer with nitrogen, such as Krystalon Start. Once the first flowers appear, use for example Krystalon Fruit and Flower. Apply fertilizer every 14 days.
Chilli peppers are most commonly attacked by aphids, spider mites, whiteflies, thrips and powdery mildew. In this case, use a fungicide (powdery mildew) or insecticide (aphids etc.) for protection. Peppers can be attacked by nematodes. The cause is non-sterile soil. The plant needs to be transplanted, another option is to sterilize the soil (in the oven or with hot water). Peppers are also attacked by viral infections. In this case, we recommend destroying the plants.
Harvest fully red fruits.
