Coffee from the Cajamarca region

Cosecha de Mujer coffee comes from the Cajamarca region of Peru, specifically from the San Ignacio area. It is grown by a group of women from the Prosperidad de Chirinos cooperative at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,900 m a.s.l.

The varieties grown include Bourbon, Catimor, Catuai, Caturra, Marsellesa, Mundo Novo, Pache and Typica, and harvesting is done by hand from March to September. The coffee is processed using the “fully washed” method, which involves fermentation and sun drying.

The Cosecha de Mujer initiative focuses on promoting gender equality in agriculture. The women receive training in leadership, improving coffee quality and managing small businesses. The programme also includes support for food self-sufficiency and income diversification, helping women strengthen their role on the farms and in society.
