What is ORP and Why Measure It?

Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP) is a key indicator of water quality that measures the water's ability to oxidize or reduce contaminants. A higher ORP value indicates greater oxidizing power, which helps eliminate harmful bacteria and organic matter. Regular ORP monitoring is essential for:

  • Maintaining optimal conditions in hydroponic growing systems
  • Ensuring healthy water parameters in aquariums
  • Monitoring water treatment effectiveness
  • Preventing pathogen growth and disease

Milwaukee PRO ORP Meter Features

The Milwaukee PRO series represents professional-grade measuring equipment trusted by growers and aquarium enthusiasts worldwide. This ORP meter offers:

  • Accurate and reliable ORP measurements
  • Easy-to-read digital display
  • Durable construction for long-term use
  • Simple calibration process
  • Portable design for on-site testing

Applications in Hydroponics and Aquariums

In hydroponic systems, maintaining proper ORP levels ensures your nutrient solution remains fresh and free from harmful microorganisms. The Milwaukee PRO ORP meter allows you to:

  • Monitor solution oxidation levels
  • Detect potential contamination early
  • Optimize nutrient solution management
  • Extend reservoir life between changes

For aquarium applications, ORP monitoring helps maintain a stable, healthy environment for fish and aquatic plants by tracking water oxidation capacity and overall water quality.

The Milwaukee MW500 PRO ORP meter is one of the latest devices for measuring oxygen levels in water. It is reliable, fast, and features simple operation with high accuracy. The ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) Milwaukee PRO meter is used to measure oxygen levels in water, aquariums, or hydroponic systems. Common applications include aquariums, swimming pools, spas, and other uses for monitoring water quality.

When combined and used with the wine electrode MA924B/1, the PRO ORP meter can also be used to measure sulfur dioxide in wine using the manual Ripper titration method.

The Milwaukee PRO ORP meter offers:

ACCURACY

The PRO ORP meter is accurate to ±5 mV, which exceeds the needs of most users.

DURABILITY

The robust probe is designed to withstand the movement of water circulation in the tank, so the probe can handle light to medium impacts against the tank wall.

LOW MAINTENANCE

The PRO ORP meter comes with the SE300 ORP probe, which is low maintenance (gel-filled).

DESIGN FEATURES

  • Quick and easy-to-read current results with large digital LCD display
  • Accuracy ±5 mV
  • Laboratory-grade gel-filled platinum ORP electrode with double junction for low maintenance and high performance
  • 1m probe cable for extra flexibility during testing
  • Low power consumption for extended battery life of 300 hours (battery included)

USE AND MAINTENANCE

Proper maintenance of your ORP probe will provide you with fast and accurate results even after extended use. Here are our top three tips:

1. Always store with the cap filled with storage solution, not water.
2. Regularly clean the probe by soaking it in cleaning solution.
3. Check the probe using MA9020 200-275 mV solution to ensure the probe is functioning properly.
