Green vitriol
Iron is an important component of leaf green, chlorophyll. A lack of it shows up as chlorosis, i.e. yellowing of the leaves, especially in pome fruit, stone fruit, strawberries and grapevines. Ferrous sulphate allows feeding by foliar spray. The iron fertiliser for outdoor use is in granulated, water-soluble form. The fertiliser also has a herbicidal effect against moss.
Chemical composition of the fertiliser: ferrous sulphate heptahydrate. Sulphur helps to adjust the soil pH.
Dosage and use
- Foliar spray: 2–4 g of fertiliser per 1 l of water (feeding in June for ornamental and fruit plants)
- To control lichens and moss: 6–10 g per 1 l of water
- Always apply in the morning or evening
Caution: the spray must not reach concrete or stone kerbs, as rusty stains will form on them. Pack size: 1 kg.
