The star gooseberry is a medium-sized tree of the Phyllanthaceae family that comes from southern Asia, mainly India. It can grow up to 18 m tall and has a rounded crown with dense dark green leaves. It blooms with small greenish-yellow flowers. The fruits are round, green or yellow, about 1–2 cm in diameter and taste very sour. According to the original description, they are used in the kitchen in drinks, jams and syrups. The pack contains 3 seeds.
Choose permeable, nutrient-rich soil. Sow the seeds in a pot at a depth of 1–2 cm and keep the substrate moist but not waterlogged. Place the pot in a bright spot and protect seedlings from direct sun. Move grown plants into larger containers. The plant must be protected from frost; in a colder climate grow it in a pot and bring it indoors for winter. Cultivation difficulty is higher.
