The African peach is a medium-sized tree of the Rubiaceae family native to tropical Africa. It can grow up to 25 m tall and has a dense rounded crown with broad, dark green, glossy leaves. The flowers are white or yellowish, small and arranged in clusters. The fruits are round, green and ripen to dark brown; they are very sour and not normally eaten. The wood is used in construction and furniture making. The pack contains 10 seeds.
Choose permeable soil suitable for trees. Bury the seeds at a depth of about 1–2 cm and keep the substrate constantly slightly moist. Place them in a bright spot. A tree grows from the seedlings over several years, so be patient. Grown plants can be transplanted into larger pots or outdoors. Cultivation is demanding and better suited to a greenhouse.
