This very interesting little plant is exceptional and beloved especially for its sensitivity to touch.
This little plant originates from America and, as its name suggests, is sensitive to touch and vibrations - its leaves quickly fold and entire fronds droop downwards. Its sensitivity is influenced not only by the plant's age (the older it is, the less sensitive it becomes), but if you overwater it, you won't witness its remarkable movements either.
Growing
Plant the sensitive plant seeds in peat with sand in a 3:1 ratio and place them in a room with temperatures around 18 to 25°C. For germination and healthy growth, it's essential to maintain moist substrate, a sunny location, and plenty of air circulation.
Overly wet substrate leads to leaf drying and dropping
Small pink-purple flowers at the tips, which eventually develop into seeds, indicate that the plant is thriving. From spring to summer, you can fertilize it with liquid fertilizer. Only young sensitive plants are suitable for repotting.
It's good to mist the sensitive plant from time to time.
Diseases and Pests
You may encounter aphids or spider mites on these plants, which can be eliminated with chemical spray.
