When growing plants and vegetables, choosing the right substrate is important because the nutrients it contains are specially formulated for specific types of plants.
Substrate serves to anchor the roots, providing stability to the plant, while also supplying plants with nutrients. Individual substrates have a balanced ratio of components and nutrients, these nutrients are capable of feeding the plant for a period of two to four weeks. After this period, regular fertilization is necessary.
Substrates can be divided into groups: those intended among other things for growing vegetables, and substrates intended for growing indoor, balcony and garden plants.
Substrate can be selected according to use for:
-
flowering plants
substrate for balcony plants
This substrate ensures healthy growth and abundant flowers. It is suitable for all balcony plants such as petunias, geraniums, begonias, fuchsias and others.
substrate for indoor plants
Ideal for African violets, mini roses, fuchsias and other indoor flowers. Typically made from a base of dark and light peat enriched with essential nutrients. The pH value is usually adjusted with limestone. Ideal for African violets, mini roses, fuchsias and other indoor flowers.
substrate for cacti and succulents
Suitable for growing most drought-loving plants such as cacti and succulents. Thanks to an increased proportion of porous material, it radically reduces root rot. It is composed of peat, nutrients, silica sand, clay and trace elements.
substrate for geraniums
Accelerates flower rooting, promotes good development of the root system. Enhances the quantity, size and color intensity of flowers.
substrate for orchids
Ensures maximum aeration thanks to a large proportion of white peat, has a balanced content of trace elements and basic nutrients. Its structure is coarser and airy, we can also encounter so-called bark substrate, which additionally contains foam.
substrate for roses
Substrate for roses has a higher nutrient content and adjusted pH, which guarantees abundant flowers, healthy growth, affects their fullness and size, therefore it is important to choose substrate specifically designed for roses.
substrate for rhododendrons
This substrate is suitable for acid-loving plants such as rhododendrons, azaleas and heathers, because they prefer lower nutrient content and lower pH. It contains a mixture of matured bark humus and peat.
substrate for geraniums and other balcony flowers
It is intended for balcony flowers such as geraniums, lobelias, begonias, verbenas and others, for which a high dose of nutrients is important for good growth and abundant flowers.
substrate for petunias
Substrate for growing surfinia is composed of clay, bark humus, nutrients, trace elements and selected types of peat. For surfinia, the most important factor is the iron content in the substrate, which prevents the occurrence of chlorosis and ensures abundant flowers and healthy plant growth.
substrate for perennials and annuals
For growing perennials and annuals, a substrate made from quality sorted peat with full-value sorted Vitahum compost with addition of pumice is suitable.
substrate with mycorrhizal fungi - balcony flowers
This is a substrate for growing and transplanting plants in pots, stoneware troughs and window boxes. It is enriched with water-retaining substance, wetting agent and selected types of mycorrhizal fungi.
substrate for aquatic plants
This substrate is specially designed for growing aquatic and marsh plants in ornamental water tanks. The nutrient supply to plants is positively influenced by increased clay content, quality compost and sand.
-
fruiting
substrate for citrus plants
Ensures abundant flowers and fruits of citrus plants and their healthy growth. It is designed for various types of citrus plants, in addition to trace elements and nutrients it also contains added iron to prevent the occurrence of chlorosis.
-
greenery
substrate for ornamental woody plants
Are you growing ornamental woody plants and shrubs? Then a substrate with peat content, matured bark humus, basic nutrients and trace elements and with low pH value is suitable for you. It ensures healthy root development for woody plants. It is used for example for spruces, pines, thujas, junipers and others.
substrate for palms
It is designed for transplanting indoor plants with ornamental leaves such as palms, spider plants, water plants, philodendrons, ficus and others. It contains selected types of peat, nutrients and trace elements, quality matured and fine bark humus.
substrate for herbs and green seasoning
The unique structure guarantees aeration of the root ball, which accelerates root growth. It is suitable for sowing and growing many types of herbs such as basil, mint, lovage, parsley, cress, dill and others.
substrate for bonsai
Suitable for growing all types of bonsai, enriched with basic nutrients and trace elements, contains clay particles, peat, sand and crushed expanded clay.
-
universal
peat
Peat is a natural substrate without chemical additives, contains no nutrients and has no adjusted pH. It ensures healthy root development and plant growth, as it enriches the soil with essential organic matter. It can also positively influence the properties of clay and sandy soils.
Substrate for Sowing and Propagation
The substrate is designed for seed germination and pricking out young plants, for rooting, pre-cultivation of seedlings and vegetative plant propagation. It contains peat, sand, has a fine structure and low nutrient content.
Substrate for Growing On
This substrate guarantees good growth, abundant root and flower formation. It maintains soil looseness and aeration.
Horticultural Substrate
It can be used not only for growing flowers and vegetables in beds, but also in greenhouses and for balcony and potted plants. It has high water absorption capacity and ensures sufficient air supply.
Be careful with plants sensitive to salt content, such as rhododendrons, as horticultural substrate is not suitable for them.
